April - Evidence

April had been having trouble sleeping, so she decided to use the shared kitchen in the barracks to make a midnight snack...or, more of a midnight meal really. She was starving. It seemed Tate had the same idea.

Tate: Trouble sleeping?

April: Yeah...I've been having weird dreams lately.

She wondered if she should be telling him that...but, for some reason she felt like she could trust him.

Tate: Do you want to talk about it?

April: I don't think they're memories, but...they seem like more than dreams. I saw a man crying over an urn. He looked like General Grunt.

Tate: That is strange...

April: Sorry, you probably think I'm crazy.

Tate: No, I don't... Pasta Primavera? It's 2 am.

April: See, you do think I'm crazy!

Tate: Actually, that reminds me of something. I probably shouldn't mention it but...The General's wife disappeared not too long ago. There was a lot of fuss over it, because some people thought he had something to do with her disappearance, but in the end there wasn't any evidence. He was pretty distraught over it though.

April: ...disappearance?

Tate: Yeah, there was another person involved too. Apparently she disappeared near her house or something. Olive Specter I think...

April: Specter! Oh...!

April: I talked to her niece, Ophelia.

April: She told me that Lyla had been coming to see Olive the night she disappeared, but that she never made it there. Her aunt had nothing to do with it.

Tate: ...You seem to know more about it than I do apparently.

April: What a strange thing to remember....

April: ....You....

Tate: ...What?

April: Never mind...it's getting late. Good night.

Tate: Goodnight, April.

Again, exercise seemed to help her think. She had definitely remembered Tate, but he seemed to not know her, or know about her conversation with Ophelia. Was he hiding something? And why was she so good at sparring?

She felt like she'd done all of this before....

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

And somehow she had ended up here again...

She looked around for some more evidence.

Again, most of the stuff lying around wasn't of much use, but then she came across a piece of paper that looked as if it had been ripped out of a journal.

"I have to do something...she's going to leave me. There must be something I can do to convince her. She's been spending a lot of time with Olive lately. Maybe if I..."

What was this about? Someone had been spending time with Olive. Could it be talking about Lyla Grunt. That was the General's wife's name she knew, she just wasn't sure how she knew it...

She tucked the piece of paper into her pocket and brought it back to base with her. She'd figure this out later. She still needed to find a way through that sealed door.

Back at the base she tried looking up more evidence online. Could she trust Tate to help her?

April: I found something at that strange lab today...

Tate: Strange lab? You've...been there?

April: I feel drawn to it...

Tate: We're not supposed to go there...

April: ...please, don't say anything...but I feel like the answers I need are in there. Will you help me?

Tate: I could get into a lot of trouble for this...

April: Think about it then.

Tate: There is something strange going on here. Finding you in that field was strange...

April: Then...?

Tate: I'll help you, but we have to be careful.

April: Thank you! Let's go look around tomorrow.
